Facelift NYC – What is the best age to get a facelift?

There are many misconceptions regarding at what age it is best or appropriate for a patient to undergo a facelift. However, there is certainly no magic number and individuals greatly vary genetically, physically, and in their lifestyles and preferences. If a patient has experienced laxity and decline of facial tissues, they are a potential candidate for a facelift regardless of their age. Eligibility for a facelift at later ages is largely dependent on the status of one’s physical health. A huge factor that influences whether or not a facelift procedure may be appropriate for a given patient is one’s subjective feeling about themself and their appearance within their age bracket. Typically, it is recommended that a person be between the ages of 35 and 65 with the average, prime age at approximately 45 to 50 years old.

Seeing that the goal of a facelift operation is to reduce the visible appearance of aging and preserve the face, the sooner the marks of aging are acknowledged and maintained/corrected, the more youthful, desirable, and lasting the results. While this is often desired in younger patients, older patients (typically 60+) with more drastic signs of facial aging may not desire more noticeable, excessively youthful results which may occur.
